look at me
look at me
what do you see
when you look at me?

Mother Night

Out of the house of sleep

Wake up! Leave that anxiety dream, you don't need the stress.

Dance! (Lyrics)

We are here such a brief time; we flicker, and are gone.

"He weaves, and is clothed with derision;
Sows, and he shall not reap;
His life is a watch or a vision
Between a sleep and a sleep."
(Algernon Charles Swinburne, Before the Beginning of Years)

The Summoning (Lyrics)

Just the Sky (Lyrics)

What? Of course there's no God! How could any rational person believe anything else?

Uh huh.

Nobody There (Lyrics)

Discordians play a game called "Find the Martian": put some people together in a room, one of whom is a Martian. Let them talk to each other; the goal is for them to discover who the Martian is.

(Do people ever look at you like you're from Mars?)

In Paradise (Lyrics)

In our religious fervor, we insist on a perfectly homogenous Paradise -- so strongly that we will convert the heretics or kill them. But would we really like to live in a Paradise where nothing ever changes?

...unto whom I send this kiss

Mother Night (Lyrics)

Do you remember ever thinking you must be adopted, because the rest of your family were some weird aliens you just couldn't understand at all? Suppose, just suppose, that you were right...

"It is a wise child now who knows her mother."
(Thomas Middleton, The Revenger's Tragedy)

Burning Hearts (Lyrics)

Man has the right to live by his own law--
to live in the way that he wills to do: ...
Man has the right to kill those who would thwart these rights.
(Liber OZ)

Whisper (Lyrics)

"But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
Which none of the princes of this world knew"
(I Cor. 7-8)

(For extra credit: what does that have to do with this song?)

Look At Me (Lyrics)

Who are you in your dreams? Do you think that person is possible, that maybe somehow that is the real you? I think mine could be me, if I'd just let it ... and yours could be you. But we have two main problems: we won't let ourselves be who we could be; and often enough that happens because people tell us that we're wrong even to want it.

The Crown (Lyrics)

"Fear not at all; fear neither men nor Fates, nor gods, nor anything. Money fear not, nor laughter of the folk folly, nor any other power in heaven or upon the earth or under the earth. Nu is your refuge as Hadit your light; and I am the strength, force, vigour, of your arms."
[ AL III:17 ]

Reflected in a Bowl of Sky

Los Angeles, 1942. Down by the waterfront, a gumshoe stands under a lamp post, his cigarette smoke drifting away to disappear in the night mist, watching ten thousand brilliant glints of moon streaming toward him, reflecting off the water. Finally, a decision: flicking his cigarette butt over his shoulder, he steps onto a moonbeam and walks off into the night sky.
